About Us
Student Placement Services (SPS) is part of South Western Sydney Local Health District’s, Centre for Education and Workforce Development.
The SPS Team books and manages placements (supervised education) for students enrolled in a course leading to a health-related occupation at a partnered Education Institution.
Work Experience for qualified clinicians, does not fall under the scope of Student Placement Services. This type of placement should be managed between your department and your facility HR department.
SWSLHD is one of the largest providers of clinical placements in New South Wales.
The SPS is responsible for:
- Providing a single point of governance within SWSLHD for district staff and education providers regarding student placements.
- Providing a single point of governance within SWSLHD for ClinConnect which is the web based application used to book and manage all student placements within NSW Health.
- Manage access, provide training and support to district staff who use ClinConnect.
- Review and manage SWSLHD’s Student Placement Agreement (SPA) requests with Education Providers.
- Manage student placement requests and bookings from Education Providers ensuring equitable access and opportunity.
- Verify and record student compliance in ClinConnect prior to the commencement of placement, as per NSW Health policy guidelines
- Verify facilitator’s compliance and AHPRA professional registration, as per NSW Health policy guidelines.
- Monitor and report on student placement demand, capacity and utilisation.
- Implement policy directives from NSW Health and SWSLHD Executive relevant to student placements.
- Providing the governance, management and provision of Facility Appointed Base (FAB) facilitation service for nursing student placements.
