POCUS & ECHO

POCUS is a fundamental part of modern Intensive Care Medicine Training. Liverpool ICU offers regular Lung Ultrasound and Echocardiography Teaching Sessions.

Exam Preparation

Regular Part I and Part II teaching sessions are held for candidates preparing for the CICM exams as above. Sessions include lectures, SAQ, VIVA practice and hot-cases.

Liverpool regularly participates in the Sydney Long Course and is frequently a venue for the Part II exams.

Liverpool staff includes part I and part II CICM examiners who can provide valuable feedback on your performance during your exam preparation journey.

Simulation Training

Regular MDT simulation training sessions take place in the exciting new simulation room and are attended by nurses and doctors. The focus is on practicing the management of high-acuity and low-frequency emergency scenarios (e.g. CALS) and developing skills such as team leadership, teamwork, and communication in a supportive learning environment.

Mentorship Program

Liverpool ICU offers an optional mentorship program to provide additional support for trainees. While facing the challenges of Intensive Care training, you can be assigned a consultant to discuss training strategies, career goals, and well-being.

BASIC Course

BASIC (Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care) is an internationally recognised course. Liverpool runs a 2-day specialist-led course of lectures and skill stations introducing concepts relevant to Intensive Care Medicine.

ALS Course

NOTE: In addition to the ICU education program, the Trauma Department coordinates and presents a weekly Trauma Audit on Thursday mornings.
