There are weekly audits of medical documentation and clinical audits are conducted monthly for medication charts, patient ID, allergy documentation, and equipment.
Results of audits are fed back to the Quality coordinator and collated by the Clinical Governance unit.
The recent introduction of bedside computers has seen increased compliance from staff for mandatory education which include fire, infection control, and OH&S education.
The ICU is a lead research unit within the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society Clinical Trials Group and the results of previous research are incorporated into everyday ICU practise. through evidence based guidelines and policies.
