Gastroenterology Department

The gastroenterology department provides inpatient and outpatient endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy). Therapeutic procedures include endoscopic control of upper and lower GI bleeding, upper and lower GI dilatations, GI stent insertion for benign and malignant strictures, argon plasma coagulation for GAVE and radiation proctitis, and PEG insertion. Dr Turner provides ERCP at Liverpool Hospital, Dr Teoh provides Fibroscan liver assessment at Liverpool Hospital and Dr Ho provides oesophageal manometry and pH studies at Campbelltown Hospital

The Gastroenterology Department has five consultants, an advanced trainee gastroenterology registrar, a basic physician trainee medical registrar, a junior medical officer and two hepatitis nurses

Main clinical interests are general clinical gastroenterology and hepatology, diagnostic and interventional endoscopy (stents, large polyp removal, APC), ERCP (Liverpool Hospital), inflammatory bowel disease management, and hepatitis B and C management.

Gastroenterology Outpatient Clinics
  • Dr Teoh (Tuesday pm) and Dr Ho (Wednesday pm) provide hospital gastroenterology clinics
  • Irena Petrovski and Michelle Whelan provide hepatitis nursing clinics and Dr Turner and Dr Teoh provide medical support for hepatitis B and C treatment
