Referring to Specialist Cancer Services

So that patients can be bulk-billed, we require a referral to a named specialist. Specialist names have been listed in the specialty tabs, along with the information required for ease of triaging appointments. Special arrangements apply to patients without a Medicare card or patients visiting from overseas.Canrefer

We have listed our service locations within each of the menu tabs. To find the nearest specialty group to your patient, CINSW have developed a location mapping database to help you find your specialty at Canrefer.org.au.

Referral and Management Guidelines have been developed for each of our tumour streams, providing you with service and clinic information, specialist clinician details, and the investigations and diagnostics required for referral that will assist in triaging.

These guidelines are not intended to preclude a referral where the diagnosis is unclear or if a second opinion for management options is requested. As with most guidelines, these criteria are generally accepted clinical practice and judgment must prevail.

If you have any concerns regarding appointments or change in condition of your patient, please contact the Switchboard and ask for the Nurse Coordinator for the service.
