2015 GP Forum

In 2015, the Liverpool Cancer Therapy Centre celebrated 20 years of service to the community of Southwestern Sydney. As part of that celebration, an educational forum for General Practitioners was held in October. The educational objectives of this forum were as follows:

  1. To identify the range of services offered by the SWSLHD Cancer program and various referral pathways for cancer patients
  2. Develop a broader understanding of the indications for cytotoxic and targeted therapies and to recognize and manage their toxicities.
  3. Recognize the role of radiation therapy in management of malignancies and the process of planning and delivering radiation therapy.
  4. Formulate general practitioner management plans for patients with lymphoma, myeloma and acute leukemia, stem cell transplantation and identify appropriate vaccination programmes in haematology patients.
  5. Recognize the common symptoms that advanced cancer patients present with and formulate a management plan for these symptoms.

A video of each presentation was created and can be accessed for online learning. We hope that you find the presentations useful. Please provide feedback to Dr Eugene Moylan, the Director of Cancer Services Liverpool Hospital: eugene.moylan@sswahs.nsw.gov.au. If this is a useful educational tool, we will endeavour to repeat the forum on an annual basis.
