Scholarships
South Western Sydney Local Health District
In 2015, the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) identified the need to promote Academic Units. Funding was granted to:
Establish two new Academic Units:
- The Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Translational Research Unit (DOMTRU) and;
- Liver Cancer and Disease Centre (LCDC)
Enhance one existing unit:
- Stroke and Health Service Research Unit
Recognise three established units:
Funding was granted to the following units for Round 2 (2018) SWSLHD Academic Units:
Establish two new Academic Units:
- Women's Health Initiative Translational Unit (WHITU)
- South West Sydney Limb Preservation and Wound Research Unit
Enhance two existing units:
- South Western Sydney IBD Research Group
- BestSTART-SW (System Transformation and Research Translation - South West Sydney): Children, Young People and Families Health Research Translation Unit
SWSLHD recognises that research is an integral part of improving the delivery of health care. Communities benefit significantly from having a vibrant teaching and research ethos in healthcare facilities.
