SWSLHD Research Mentoring Program 2023

Applications to the SWSLHD Research Mentoring Program are currently closed.

The program was conducted as pilot in 2023 and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We would like to thank the mentors and mentees involved. Further details on the program in 2024 will be made available shortly. If you would like to be notified, please contact us at SWSLHD-ResearchDirectorate@health.nsw.gov.au.

SWSLHD Research Mentoring Program:
The Program aims to connect emerging researchers (mentees) to experienced mentors in a structured way, over a defined 6-month period. Mentoring is a mutual relationship that will help build professional networks, develop new skills and get first-hand information and support to build on, or expand on the mentees career in research, while providing an opportunity for mentors to grow and develop their leadership skills.

Over the mentoring period, it is expected that mentees will receive guidance from mentors and gain knowledge of building the culture of research into your daily clinical practice. You will also gain insight into your skills, values and attributes, as well as reflect on your experience and learn from the experience of your mentor.

If selected for the program, time commitment involves;

  • Preparing for and attending regular online or face-to-face mentoring sessions over the 6-month period.
  • A short program feedback survey at the start and end of the mentoring period.

If you are interested in being a mentor or being a mentee or would like further details on the program, please contact us:

Mentors

Outside of the formal program, the Research Directorate can assist with linking up with experienced Mentors who are willing to share their expertise with researchers seeking assistance with their projects.
If you require assistance with your project and are having difficulties in linking up with an appropriate mentor, please contact the Research Directorate at SWSLHD-ResearchDirectorate@health.nsw.gov.au

“I am currently collaborating with one of the clinicians to review the proposal for ethics. It's encouraging to witness the success of this program.” - Mentor, 2023
