Consumer Engagement

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission) has introduced standards for the conduct of clinical trials in Australia, called The National Clinical Trials Governance Framework. Under the Standard 2 “Partnering with Consumers”; To create an organisation in which there are mutually beneficial outcomes by having:

  • Consumers as partners in planning, design, delivery, measurement and evaluation of systems to deliver clinical trial services.
  • Trial participants and patients as partners in their own care, to the extent that they choose.

SWSLHD is committed to enabling researchers to engage and partner with consumers in the design and conduct of research. The following resources may be useful for clinicians when considering how to best partner with consumers in the design and conduct of their research:

 

SWSLHD Multicultural Services

Multicultural Services aim to improve the health outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse communities in the South Western Sydney Local Health District. The Service enhances the capacity of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in SWSLHD to access safe, high-quality and person-centred health care where cultural and linguistic needs are recognised and addressed in policy development, service planning and delivery. Multicultural Services consists of 3 pillars: Health Language Services, Multicultural Health Service and Health Literacy.
