The NSW Health Aboriginal Workforce Strategic Framework 2011 - 2015 focuses on addressing health workforce skill gaps as well as supporting the economic and social wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

South Western Sydney Local Health District has implemented a highly successful Aboriginal traineeship program, with substantial growth and high retention rates in its Aboriginal workforce.

At Liverpool Hospital, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff are offered traineeships, advice on career development and ongoing support within the workplace.
