Supporting Staff

Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff

The Aboriginal Workforce team works with hospitals and services to support the ongoing wellbeing of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce.

Aboriginal Staff Network Meetings

Aboriginal Staff Cluster Network meetings are held at the main hospital campuses across the District annually. These meetings provide Aboriginal staff with the opportunity to connect with one another and establish local support networks. The meetings also provide a venue to promote workforce development strategies and encourage engagement in a range of professional development activities.

Aboriginal Staff Wellbeing

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff can access the Aboriginal Staff Counsellor through the Staff Wellbeing and Support Service. The counsellor provides confidential counselling and case management, offers guidance to managers of Aboriginal staff, and works closely with the Aboriginal Workforce Team to develop wellbeing initiatives tailored to the needs of our staff.

Cultural Supervision

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff have access to cultural supervision and support structures that provide a safe space to reflect on their practice, with guidance from the Aboriginal Health Unit management.
