Aboriginal Targeted & Identified Recruitment

South Western Sydney Local Health District has introduced an Aboriginal Targeted Recruitment Strategy and an Aboriginal Targeted and Identified Recruitment Standard of Practice to strengthen culturally safe, equitable recruitment practices across the organisation. These initiatives aim to grow and sustain our Aboriginal workforce and support improved cultural safety, patient experience, and health outcomes for Aboriginal patients and communities.

The Strategy responds to a recent review that identified barriers to increasing Aboriginal workforce participation, while the Standard of Practice provides clear guidance for staff and managers on Aboriginal Targeted and Identified recruitment. Together, the documents support services with a commitment to targeting 15% of vacancies in areas with higher Aboriginal patient presentations and are underpinned by relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
