BreastScreen NSW, South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) resides within the SWSLHD Population Health facility.
BreastScreen SWSLHD is one of nine BreastScreen NSW Services and is funded and supported by the Cancer Institute NSW.
Service provision includes marketing, education, screening, assessment and evaluation.
Screening is provided at four fixed centres in Bankstown, Liverpool, Campbelltown and Bowral and a mobile screening unit. An assessment service is based at the Liverpool unit.
SWSLHD is the largest and fastest growing Health District in metropolitan Sydney.
The geographic area covered by the local screening program includes the Local Government Areas of Bankstown, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee and Wollondilly.
The mobile screening unit provides an outreach service to such culturally diverse areas such as Cabramatta, Fairfield and Green Valley.
A welcoming service for Aboriginal women is provided via group visits, presentations, Aboriginal specific resources and an annual visit to Tharawal Aboriginal Medical Service in Airds. Partnerships with organisations that support Aboriginal women in the community remain a high priority.
