Computed Tomography (CT)Please click on a link for detailsA Computed Tomography (CT) or computerized axial tomography (CAT scan) uses a narrow beam of x-rays that rotates around in a circular motion within the gantry (donut). The beams of x-rays pass through the body (like a normal x-ray) and hit a detector which exposes different levels of density. Many images are taken from various angles as the CT bed moves through the gantry. This process will allow us to view structures inside your body in many cross-section slices (like slices of bread).
