When you are admitted to Liverpool Hospital, your Doctor will let you know when you can expect to be discharged. This date may change, depending on your condition, so it's important that you discuss this with your Doctor so you can plan any ongoing care that may be required when you get home.
Your Doctor will help you plan your discharge date as soon as possible, giving you plenty of time to arrange transport and any other needs you may require. On your date of discharge, you should be ready to leave your room by 10.00am. If you need to wait for your carer or transport home, you may be transferred to the Transit Lounge so other patients can be admitted without delay.
If you are concerned about how you may cope when you leave the Hospital, we can refer you to a range of services including Home Nursing, Home Care, Meals on Wheels and surgical dressings that can support you during your recovery.
To access these services, please ask your Nurse to refer you to a Social Worker or the Clinical Nurse Consultants for Continuum of Care or Chronic and Complex Care.
We have additional discharge arrangements for Maternity and Children's Ward patients, which we will discuss with you when you complete the admission process.
The Transit/Discharge Lounge is available for discharged patients who are waiting to be picked up by their carer or transport provider. While you wait in the Transit/Discharge Lounge, you will receive the same high-quality care and attention that you received on your ward.
Please note there is a 20-minute pick-up and drop-off zone out the front of the Transit/Discharge Lounge.
