Services for people with disabilities

People with disabilities will be treated with respect and have the same quality of service and health outcomes as other members of the community. We work closely with relevant agencies and people with disabilities to meet this commitment.

Accessible Parking and Transport

Liverpool Hospital has a number of areas where patients can be dropped off, as well as accessible parking for people displaying their current Mobility Parking Scheme permit.

Parking fees apply to all Hospital car parks. If you visit the hospital regularly and are having difficulty meeting parking costs, please speak to the Patient Liaison Officer.

Transit/Discharge Lounge

The Transit/Discharge Lounge is available for discharged patients who are waiting to be picked up by their carer or transport provider. While you wait in the Transit/Discharge Lounge, you will receive the same high-quality care and attention that you received on your ward.

Please note there is a 20-minute pick-up and drop-off zone out the front of the Transit/Discharge Lounge.

South West Community Transport

The Home and Community Care program provides Community Transport to frail aged, younger people with disabilities, carers and families.

To make a booking, phone 1300 138 794 or visit South West Community Transport.

Accessible toilets

Accessible toilets for people with disabilities are available on all floors of the Hospital and are identified by signage with the symbol of access (wheelchair).

Interpreters

If you do not speak English well, we can arrange an interpreter for you through the Health Language Service. Auslan (sign interpreters) are also available on request for people with a hearing impairment.

Universal signage

The Hospital has universal signage wherever it is applicable. All other signage is to the Australian Standards requirements.

Guide Dogs

If you would like your guide dog to be with you while in Hospital, please advise staff so this can be arranged.

Admission to Emergency Department

If you have any specific care requirements or support needs during your stay in the Emergency Department, please alert staff so we can arrange to make your stay more comfortable.

Booked / elective admissions

If you require any special equipment or support needs during your stay in Hospital, please inform pre-admissions or ward staff, so this can be organised before you arrive.

Outpatient visits

Please advise clinic or department staff of any specific equipment or care needs prior to your appointment.
