The Department of Dermatology at Liverpool Hospital was established in 1994.

As a teaching centre of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, University of New South Wales, and Western Sydney University, we are proud to be training the doctors and dermatologists of the future.

Mission

Our Mission is to:

  • Provide diagnostic and management excellence in the care of people with diseases of skin, hair and nails

  • Embed research in the provision of care to improve patients outcomes

  • Educate and train health care providers and patients

  • Collaborate with research groups and health care providers to promote best practice centred care

Dermatology at Liverpool Hospital services the population of South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) which is the most populous district in the state and has an annual growth of over 10%. The district also has the largest cohort of paediatric population.

SWSLHD has unique challenges in delivering patient care with up to 44% of the population being born overseas and up to 51% speak a language other than English at home.

Due to our large catchment area, waiting times in our service can be longer than expected and meet a strict referral and triage criteria.
