Home Therapies Unit
Supporting home-based renal therapy, which includes continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and haemodialysis (HD) for patients suffering from end stage renal diseases. The aim of the unit is to promote the optimum level of self care and to maintain patients in their own home environment and employment as long as possible, via pre-dialysis education, dialysis training program, follow-up care, home visits, regular home visits, referral to allied health professionals and phone counselling. Unit staff provide continuous care in collaboration with the renal ward staff, nephrologists, allied health staff and general practitioners. Unit staff provide ward visits and adjusting patient’s dialysis programs according to their clinical situation. Staff endeavour to assist patients and their families in planning holiday dialysis. Research and study trends in CAPD Referrals to this service are required. Appointments are required. No cost for Medicare patients.

Liverpool Hospital In-Centre Haemodialysis Unit
The In-Centre and Isolation Haemodialysis Units provide haemodialysis to acute inpatient, unstable outpatients, as well as CCU and ICU treatments and other hospitalized patients requiring haemodialysis. In-Centre Haemodialysis provides a 24 hour on call service providing a haemodialysis service in the after hours and over the weekend periods.

Liverpool Hospital Isolation Haemodialysis Unit
The Isolation Haemodialysis Unit provides haemodialysis to acute inpatient, stable and unstable outpatients who may be carriers of specific Multi Resistant Organisms (MROs). As part of our Infection Control Policy, patients may be cohorted in this area to limit the spread of these MROs within the haemodialysis population.
