Meals

The Dietitians at Fairfield Hospital work closely with Food Services to ensure your meals are enjoyable and healthy. If you require a special diet for medical, religious or cultural reasons, please discuss these requirements with the staff on your ward or the Diet Assistant who takes your menu choices each day.

The Diet Assistants use electronic devices to take your menu choices each day; for those patients that are unable to select their menu, the Diet Assistant will contact a family member to obtain the patients foods preferences.

If you would like a smaller or larger serving of a meal, please advise the Diet Assistant or ward staff. If you have difficulty opening packets or need assistance with meals, your nurse or the food service staff will be happy to assist you.

Dietitians are also available to assist you with questions you may have about dietary requirements, nutrition or planning meals at home. Visitors must ask the nurse in charge before giving any food or drink to the patient as this may interfere with the patient's treatment and tests or it may be harmful to the patient in their medical condition.
