JMO Quality Awards Showcase

About Us

On behalf of the Organising Committee for the 2015 JMO Quality Awards Showcase, I would like to welcome you to our event. This event will bring together an influential group of doctors in training as well as medical educators, hospital educators and quality and safety managers.

Over the one-day event, you will

  • Hear from national thought leaders
  • Learn about ways to conduct quality improvement projects
  • See and participate in exciting quality improvement projects

This is a Showcase designed by junior doctors, for junior doctors. Junior doctors harness a unique potential to transform healthcare. JMOs have an interest in work, health and safety issues given their role at the coalface of healthcare delivery. Their interest in quality improvement is executed through research, audits and educational initiatives

The 2015 JMO Quality Awards Showcase celebrates quality improvement projects and clinical audit and provides a platform for JMOs to present their quality improvement programs to various stakeholders across hospitals. A conference focusing on relevant issues, and driven by JMOs, will lead to further improvements in health care within the NSW networks.

It will begin with a series of keynote presentations by national speakers. This will be followed by a workshop co-written by Dr Sarah Dalton from the Clinical Excellence Comission "Quality 101" and Dr May Wong. After this, we will have selected oral presentations from junior doctors showcasing their quality projects . This will be divided by breaks throughout the day where delegates will visit posters and sponsor booths. We will have cash prizes for best oral and poster presentations, plus door prizes from our sponsors. The final event is a networking session with canapés, where delegates will hear from a chef about how they ensure quality control in their kitchen, plus sample their food!

What JMO's will gain from this conference:

  • Appreciate that quality improvement is imperative in clinical practice
  • Learn how to start a quality project
  • Hear about projects in other networks which can be emulated in their own network
  • Receive a certificate for the CEC "Quality 101" workshop
  • Get acknowledged for their projects by presenting them to key stakeholders
  • Be in the running for cash prizes ($500 for best oral presentation and $250 for best poster presentation)
  • Network with other JMOs who are interested in quality
