General Manager's Welcome
Welcome to Fairfield Hospital. My name is Cara Egan and I am the Acting General Manager. I hope you find the information available on this website helpful.
Fairfield Hospital is a metropolitan hospital situated in south western Sydney. We are based in one of the most multicultural and diverse communities in Australia and celebrate the great language, religious and cultural diversity of the Fairfield, Smithfield and Cabramatta areas.
It is an exciting time for us. The NSW Government is investing $630 million to redevelop the hospital and provide the community with new and enhanced health care services close to home. The planning phase of this exciting redevelopment began in 2025, and construction is expected to begin in 2026. The redevelopment will enhance the services and care we are able to provide to the large and growing community we serve.
Fairfield Hospital has a strong focus on performance, and all staff are committed to ensuring patient safety and providing high quality care. We are fully accredited with the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS).
We strive for excellence in the delivery of patient care and on ensuring a positive experience. As a patient or carer, you may be invited to participate in one of our patient experience interviews. This helps us understanding how we may improve our services, and I would like to encourage you to take part. You may also like to provide feedback on our feedback page.
Fairfield Hospital is a teaching and learning hospital with key partnerships with the University of NSW and the University of Western Sydney. The Hospital has an active program of education for medical practitioners, nurses and other health professionals with students undertaking clinical placements from universities around Australia. This may mean you are asked if health professional students can be present during your treatment, if you are uncomfortable with this, please tell your treating professional.
Finally, Fairfield Hospital is a clean hands hospital, and we are committed to preventing hospital infections, therefore we ask all our visitors and staff to please use the hand hygiene gels before entering and leaving the Hospital ward and after patient contact.
