Round 10

Round 10 of the NSW Health Translational Research Grants Scheme (TRGS) opened on Monday 16 February 2026. In Round 10 of the Scheme, funds will be made available to support research projects that will translate into better patient outcomes, health service delivery, and sustainability.

You are strongly encouraged to review the resources found on the Office of Health and Medical Research (OHMR) TRGS website once they are made available, and begin discussions with collaborators from partner organisations as soon as possible. It is essential that you read the guidelines and ensure that your proposed project aligns with the requirements of the grant.

In round 10, applications will be capped to a maximum of three (3) per LHD (“Host Organisation”). Given the limit of submissions, you will be required to submit a local expression of interest (EOI) application for competitive review. Please note, as this will be a competitive process, your final EOI may not be selected for submission. The EOI should be submitted to the Research Directorate at SWSLHD-ResearchDirectorate@health.nsw.gov.au by no later than 5pm, 30 April 2026.

In round 10, there are five key priority research areas:

  • Climate risk and net zero
  • Mental health acute models of care for pilot, spread or scale
  • Locally identified needs
  • Aboriginal health
  • Rural health

The above priority areas are to be considered when submitting an EOI. The application must be justified and aligned where required with the SWSLHD Strategic Plan 2022-2027SWSLHD Research Strategy to 2030 and, where appropriate, any other relevant District plans or strategies.

Applicants are encouraged to partner with other research organisations such as universities and medical research institutes; however, research projects must be led by an employee of a host organisation within the health system. The scheme is designed to accelerate the development of research capability and evidence translation within NSW Health.
