PrEP

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a prevention tablet for HIV-negative people who are at risk of HIV infection. PrEP is very effective at preventing HIV transmission.

No Medicare?

If you do not have a Medicare card, our clinic can support with:

  • free consultation including PrEP information and education
  • free HIV and STI check-up and PrEP medication

Medicare Card holders:

If you have a Medicare card, PrEP can be prescribed by GPs in medical centres or through an online PrEP telehealth service. These services will do your STI check-up and PrEP. A list of online providers can be found below. PrEP tablets are relatively cheap on the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme (PBS) and can be purchased from a community or online pharmacy. Due to the demand for PrEP, we request that if you do have a Medicare card, you go through a GP or online service.  If this doesn’t work for you let us know and we can get you started on PrEP.

Our contact number is (02) 9827 8022.
