Hospital fees and insurance

BankstownIf you are an Australian resident, you are eligible to receive free health care regardless of your financial situation. However, if you are not a resident of Australia, you will have to pay the full cost of your health care before you are admitted to Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital or as soon after as is practical. This payment can be made either in cash or by credit card.

If you are claiming your health care under compensation insurance such as Motor Vehicle Accident or Workers Compensation, you will need to choose whether you are admitted to hospital as a private (chargeable) or hospital (non-chargeable) patient. This will determine the costs you will be charged in the event that your insurance claim is unsuccessful.

For more information regarding Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital fees and charges, please contact the Admissions Office through the switchboard on 02 9722 8000.

Private patients

You may decide to use your Private Health Insurance before, during or after your stay in hospital. As a private patient, all co-payments and excess fees will be waived if you enter the hospital through the Emergency Department.

Should any further costs be incurred, the Private Patient Officer will discuss these fees with you. All claims to Medicare and your health fund will be processed automatically on your behalf. Hospital Admissions and Ward Clerical staff can assist you with any further enquiries you may have.

As a private patient, you can elect to be treated by the doctor of your choice provided they work at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. Money received from private health funds is given directly to the hospital to assist in providing services to all patients.

For more information in regards to using Private Health Insurance at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, please contact the Private Patient Officer on 02 9722 8256.
