Plastics
Plastics services departments are established at both Liverpool and Bankstown Hospitals. The departments are integrated with some cross appointments of surgeons, as well as combined meetings and educational activities. Our plastic surgery departments provide emergency and elective services in tissue reconstruction after trauma and cancer surgery (commonly head & neck, breast cancers, as well as colorectal and pelvic cancers), skin cancer resections, and maxillofacial trauma. Referrals are accepted from across SWSLHD including Fairfield and Campbelltown hospitals. While both departments provide a full spectrum of services, there is a focus on facial trauma, head & neck cancer, and multidisciplinary team (plastic surgeons, dermatologists, radiation and medical oncologists, and allied health staff) at Liverpool Hospital. Breast reconstructive services are available at both hospitals. While the majority of outpatient services are provided by each specialist in private consulting rooms, there are also outpatient clinics at Liverpool hospital. Plastic surgery nurses provide weekly dressing clinics at Liverpool Hospital. Specialists plastic surgery trainees are sent by the Royal College of surgeons to both hospitals on six monthly rotations to benefit from the broad spectrum of clinical experience provided. |
