The Liverpool Hospital Endoscopy Unit is a specialty Endoscopy Unit and is an independent stand-alone unit.
The unit provides admission, recovery and discharge services. The nursing staff are specifically trained in all aspects of Endoscopy nursing and the NSW Endoscopy Information System- ProVation, is used by the medical staff to record all procedures. The Endoscopy unit offers patients a wide variety of endoscopic procedures including:-
- Diagnostic and therapeutic Gastroscopes
- Polypectomies
- Colonoscopies
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and stenting
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) both Radial and Linear
- Diagnostic Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA)
- Double Balloon Enteroscopies (DBE)
- Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
- Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube insertion
- Upper and lower Gastrointestinal (GI) dilation and insertion of stents.
- The unit also supports Respiratory Medicine by offering Bronchoscopes and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) The EBUS provides diagnostic ultrasound guided FNA during Bronchoscopy.
