Macarthur Ambulatory Care Service( MACS)The Macarthur Ambulatory Care Service (MACS) operates in the Macarthur region, 50-km south west of Sydney, and serves a population of 250,000 in an urban and semi-rural environment. The service provides outreach multidisciplinary health care in a location other than hospital, by providing programs that substitute inpatient hospital stay, support discharge into the community and assist the management of chronic and complex conditions. A detailed series of systems have been developed to cater for community treatment of individuals and support for their carers. The Service provides an integrated model of care with SWSLHD Community Health Nursing in delivery of therapies for a variety of clinical conditions – the most common are cellulitis, DVT/PE, osteomyelitis/septic arthritis, blood product transfusion.
