Mental Health Services

Carer Information

The Mental Health Service (MHS) values and respects carers, families and friends and acknowledges their role in contributing to and supporting the wellbeing, treatment and recovery of people with a mental illness.

Most consumers have a close relative, partner or friend that they wish to have included in their care and treatment. The MHS recognises the role of carers, families and friends as partners in providing psychosocial support and overall care.

Carers also may experience significant grief, stress and anxiety, particularly during crisis situations, especially if police or emergency services are involved, or as a consequence of providing long-term care.
This page provides information for staff as well as links to provide to carers to support them in their caring journey.
