About Us

The South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) Mental Health Service provides quality mental health care to residents across south western Sydney. Our services provide assessment and treatment for a range of mental health needs and disorders and our priorities include early intervention and promoting mental health in our community.

Mental health services are provided by a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals including consultant psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists and administrative staff. The multidisciplinary team combines specialised skills and expertise and works together to provide high quality mental health care.

Community-based mental health services operate in the Bankstown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee areas. Hospital-based mental health services are located at Bankstown, Liverpool and Campbelltown Hospitals. The Mental Health Service District Office is located in the Mental Health Centre at Liverpool Hospital, providing corporate and clinical support to the Mental Health Services operating across SWSLHD.

Mental health services are provided across the age range. In the SWSLHD Mental Health Service, there are dedicated teams for Perinatal, Infant, Child and Adolescent, Youth/Early Psychosis, Adults and Older Persons’ mental health care. Collaborating with other SWSLHD services, including Community Health Services, Drug Health Services, and Aged Care and Rehabilitation Services, enables the Mental Health Service to deliver holistic health care to our community.

In addition to age-specific services, specialised services are also available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

All SWSLHD Mental Health Service staff are committed to patient safety and quality care. The service maintains current accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards against its EQuIPNational program and survey against the National Standards for Mental Health Services.
