Older People’s Mental Health Service (OPMH)Older People’s Mental Health (OPMH) services provide mental health services in both inpatient and community settings for older people (usually 65 years or older) who have a mental health problem . Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people may be referred at a younger age if desired. OPMH can also assist with severe behavioural problems associated with dementia at any age once the person has been seen by Dementia Support Australia . OPMH teams also provide information and support to carers and family members and work closely with an older person's local doctor or residential aged care facility in providing care. Anyone can refer to the service by making a free phone call to the Mental Health Line 1800 011 511. OPMH Services Consultation-Liaison services OPMH doctors support people who are admitted under the care of adult mental health and geriatricians in Liverpool, Campbelltown and Fairfield Hospital. Inpatient Services For older people requiring hospital care, beds are provided at Braeside Hospital at Prairiewood.
