Brighter Beginnings

The Brighter Beginnings program offers free health and development checks to children aged 4 years old in preschool or long day care services.

Children will have the following checked:

  • Height and weight
  • Oral health
  • Listening and talking skills
  • Social skills and behaviour
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Learning and play skills

Children and families will also be offered support to access other services if needed.

No vaccinations are given.

Families will be given consent forms before the face-to-face checks. Children can only have a health and development check if their parent or carer has given consent.

Families will be given a report after the health and development checks. The report will have information on how families can keep supporting the growth and development of their child.

How to get in contact:

Preschools or long day care services will let families know when the service is coming to their centre.
