Consumer and Community Participation

Bankstown

The Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital (BLH) Consumer and Community Participation (CCP) Network Representatives comprises a broad group of volunteer community members, consumers and carers.  It is an independent body which is supported by the Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital Consumer and Community Participation Manager and resourced by the General Managers Unit and the SWSLHD Consumer and Community Participation Unit.

As a Member, you will make decisions about health service planning, setting priorities, policy development and issues of concern, to promote open communication between Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital and the Bankstown community.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in training and development that supports your important role in the community. Representatives may be nominated and elected as members of various Hospital and district governance committees as required but this is not a necessity for membership.

The core function of the Network is to ensure effective health consumer and community participation processes at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital and to support the hospital to improve its service to the diverse local community.

Members of the CCP Network participate on Facility and District Committees, raise issues of concern and provide feedback on Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital documents.  In addition, the CCP Network plays a key role in infrastructure planning and development in the hospital.

The CCP Network is committed to achieving the SWSLHD Vision of Leading care, Healthier communities and upholding the core values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.

The role of the CCP Network is listed in the Terms of Reference.

The Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital Consumer and Community Participation Network meet on a monthly basis at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital.

The NSW Government committed $1.3 billion to develop a new Bankstown Hospital in 2019. Our CCP representatives are actively involved in planning activities for the new Hospital site and re-purposing of the existing BLH site.  Consumer representatives participated in planning sessions and reviewed documents - providing consumer input to the first phases of the Future Models of Care Project, Clinical Service Plan and Digital Transformation Strategy. CCP involvement has continued during 2021 with feedback provided on Non-Clinical Service Statements to support the future models of care.

The CCP Network also participates in the accreditation of Standard 2: Partnering with Consumers.

We welcome your participation.
