About Munch & Move

Munch & Move is a NSW Health initiative that supports the healthy development of children from birth to five years by promoting physical activity, healthy eating and reduced small screen time (e.g. watching TV or DVDs, playing on computers and small hand-held games devices).

Eating well and being active are essential for healthy growth and development. By offering training and resources to childhood educators, we are giving children the basic 'building blocks' for a healthy lifestyle at an early age, increasing the likelihood they will continue these healthy habits throughout their lives.

South Western Sydney Local Health District offers ongoing support to Munch & Move trained early childhood services by:

  • Delivering free online webinars, workshops and  in-service training
  • Providing practical resources to support active play and healthy eating - resource manuals,  music CD, movement DVD, fact sheets and more
  • Supporting services to develop and implement policies and practices that promote healthy  eating and physical activity and limit small screen time
  • Providing parent-focused resources with simple, practical tips and ideas to engage children in active play and healthy eating and to limit small screen recreation.
