New Street

New Street Sydney South West and East is part of a network of New Street services across NSW that provides therapeutic services for children and young people aged 10 to 17 years who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours towards others, and their families and caregivers.

The service covers Sydney, South West Sydney and South East Sydney Local Health Districts, providing outreach services to all three districts.

New Street services work with the young person to assist them to understand, acknowledge, take responsibility for and cease the harmful sexual behaviour. New Street Services have a defined and evidence-informed model of operation including:

  • Working with the whole family unit
  • Engaging with other agencies and community services to sustain and support interventions.
  • Central to the model is the principle of safety, both for any children that have been sexually harmed and for the young person engaged in the harmful behaviour who may themselves be a victim of abuse and neglect.

New Street Services prioritise Aboriginal young people. All New Street employees are trained and committed to ensuring cultural safety. Identified Aboriginal Counsellor Positions are in place at as part of this commitment.
