Child Protection Counselling Service (CPCS)

quick exit

Child Protection Counselling Service (CPCS) accepts referrals directly from the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and other Organisations, CPCS does not accept referrals from the client themselves i.e. self-referrals.

The counselling team provides a highly specialised counselling service to families where child abuse has been confirmed. This includes physical abuse, neglect issues, emotional abuse, and children's exposure to domestic violence.

CPCS consists of a team of psychologists and social workers who work both at the main Carboni St Liverpool centre as well as Community Health Centres across SWSLHD. They provide counselling to children, young people, parents, carers and families already involved with the Department of Communities and Justice.

CPCS are primarily an outreach or home visiting based service and provide individual, couple, and family counselling. They also provide play therapy sessions to children. The type of session depends on family/child need. Groupwork is also provided to clients of the service.
The work is medium to long term in duration.
