Acute Trauma Referrals
FOR REFERRING DOCTOR:
- Referrals from Emergency Departments must be made by contacting the on-call Hand Registrar or Fellow through the main switchboard on 9616 8111
- GP and Specialist referrals to the service can be made by using the referral form and faxing it to 9616 8715. Patients requiring immediate assessment should be sent to their closest Emergency Department. The hand team will review all non-urgent referrals and contact the patient with an appointment
- Please include on the referral: diagnosis, date of injury, relevant investigations
- New patients will attend the Hand Clinic at 8:00am Monday-Friday
- Weekend and Public holiday Service is for urgent referrals only and runs from 7:30 - 9:30 at the Ambulatory Care Unit, Fairfield Hospital – please contact the Hand Registrar / Fellow first
OUT OF AREA REFERRALS:
- For patients who are out of area, options should be given for referral to their closest hand clinic service (e.g. Sydney Hospital, Royal North Shore Hosptial). However, if requiring emergency review please contact the hand registrar through switchboard on 9616 8111
- South Western Sydney Hand Centre accepts referrals from GP and Specialists via fax for patients living within the following local councils:
- Liverpool Local Council
- Fairfield Local Council
- Campbelltown Local Council
- Camden Local Council
- Wollondilly Local Council
- Wingecarribee Local Council
FOR NEW PATIENTS:
- All patients require a referral, which will be made by the Emergency Department, GP or other Specialist
- This service runs by appointments only, and is not a walk-in service
- Please bring all relevant scans, reports and letters
- The South Western Sydney Hand Centre Building is located outside the main Fairfield Hospital Building on Level 1 (lower level), open Monday to Friday
