Placements

Year 1

Within the first year, graduates are placed with an experienced mentor, who is a senior manager or professional within the Local Health District. Placements involve:

  • Developing an insight into the organisation at a corporate and strategic level
  • Working with senior managers and health professionals
  • Some operational management responsibility
  • Developing an understanding of strategic planning and management

  • Financial Accounting (taxation, payroll, subsidy, intra-health, VMOs, staff specialist billings, trust funds)

Year 2

The management placements in the second year of the program are designed to reflect the experience which trainees have gained through the first year of the program. Graduates will be given the opportunity to express interest in available placements. One 12 month work placement is offered.

  • Operational management responsibility
  • Direct or indirect management of staff or projects
  • Direct or indirect budgetary responsibility
  • Change Management and planning
  • Liaising with senior health professionals and managers
