Graduates undertake a variety of in-house and external courses to assist with their understanding of health services and their development of leadership and management skills. This includes:
Master of Health Leadership & Management
As part of the GHMP, all graduates are enrolled in the Masters of Health Leadership & Management at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). The two-year, Masters program (via distance) gives graduates a broad overview of health care issues, policy making and leadership and management in health care. The UNSW Masters course complements the very practical experience graduates receive during their management placements.
The course is based on blended learning principles. These master-classes are led and championed by leading Federal and State health service executives who devote their time, experience and knowledge with the graduates.
Graduates are expected to contribute to all master-class and online discussions as part of the Masters'. They are also expected to complete all assessments, as required, and provide evidence of their results to the Local Health District.
Learning Sets
The purpose of the GHMP learning sets is to facilitate the integration of the workplace and educational components of the program for graduates. Learning sets are facilitated by the Coordinator of the Master of Health Leadership & Management and are held monthly with a guest speaker invited to present a topic within their specialty area.
