Youth Health Services

The Youth Health Service helps young people with complex health needs, especially those from priority populations. While most young Australians are healthy, some face more health risks and barriers to accessing care, making them more vulnerable.

Our goal is to be a leader in providing quality health services for youth, focusing on helping young people look after their own health.

We aim to improve access to services and the overall health and wellbeing of young people aged 12-24, especially those under 21 who are:

  1. Under the Guardianship of the Minister
  2. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  3. From other vulnerable groups, including:
    • Pregnant or parenting under 25
    • Homeless or at risk of homelessness
    • LGBTI (sexuality and/or gender diverse)
    • In, entering, or exiting Out-of-Home Care

    • Refugees or newly arrived migrants
    • With physical or intellectual disabilities
    • With chronic or complex conditions (including mental health)
    • Young carers
    • Experiencing family, domestic, intimate partner, or peer violence
    • Living in rural and remote areas

The Youth Health Advisory Group, also known as the YHAG, are a group of young people aged 16-24 who want to improve the way young people experience public healthcare.

The purpose of this group is to give young people the opportunity to express their thoughts, ideas and feedback about health services in south west Sydney that they visit.

Members will have the opportunity to put their feedback and advice into action. There will also be training and networking opportunities available for YHAG members.

We encourage applications from diverse locations, backgrounds and life experiences of young people aged 16-24 across south west Sydney (refer to map).
