Liverpool Sexual Health Counselling Service

Our counsellor provides professional counselling services to individuals and couples who meet the eligibility requirements of the service. 

Counsellors provide a non-judgmental, supportive and confidential service for you to talk about any sexual health related concerns you might have, and how these concerns may be impacting on your day-to-day living. You are provided with a safe and confidential space where you only have to discuss matters that you are comfortable discussing, and are able to obtain any information and other resources that you may require.

Counselling is provided for a range of sexual health related concerns such as:

  • Coping with a new diagnosis of HIV or a sexually transmitted infection
  • Counselling and support for Living better with HIV
  • Sexual identity/preference issues and other issues around sexuality (coming out)
  • Gender identity
  • Negotiating sexual relationships with partners
  • Assisting people change behaviours that place them at risk of becoming infected with HIV/STI
  • Assisting in contacting sexual partners who may need to be tested and treated for STI’s  (contact tracing)
  • Hepatitis C treatment
  • Advocacy and referral to other services

All services are confidential, however, there are some exceptions to confidentiality (Please refer to the Client Rights pamphlet and feel free to discuss this with your counsellor.)

Free interpreting can be arranged with a male or female interpreter. Please let us know if you require an interpreter when booking your appointment.

Our Sexual Health Counsellor is available during work hours for appointments. If you feel that your issue is urgent make sure to let us know when you contact the centre.
