Referral to Community Paediatric Clinics for Vulnerable Children and Youth

- Community Paediatric and Developmental Clinics for Aboriginal Children
Referral criteria
- The child’s family identify as Aboriginal
- The child is aged <16 years- (priority is given to younger children)
- The child is being referred for a medical and/ or developmental/behavioural assessment.
- The child is not being referred for an acute medical issue.
- Referral will not be accepted if the child is already engaged with a Paediatrician for the same issue.
- KARI Aboriginal Multidisciplinary clinics- Multidisciplinary assessment clinic for Aboriginal children in out of home care in SWS with KARI
- Tharawal Community Paediatric Clinic- Comprehensive paediatric and psychosocial assessment clinic for Aboriginal children 0-16years attending Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation (Airds).
- Child at risk clinics (Branches)
- Comprehensive paediatric, developmental and psychosocial assessment clinic for children at risk, including children of substance using parents, children of parents with a mental health disorder or intellectual disability, and children in out-of-home care. Clinics are staffed by a Child Protection Paediatrician, Community Paediatric Registrar/Fellow and Social Worker.

- Community paediatric clinics for children and young people of refugee backgrounds in South-Western Sydney, including issues around growth development and a wide range of paediatric issues. Clinics are staffed by a Community Paediatrician, Community Paediatric Fellow and Social Worker.

- Youth Health clinics
- The Youth Health Service clinics provide an easily accessible comprehensive healthcare and support service for vulnerable and marginalised young people, aged 12-14 years. The clinics are staffed by a Community Paediatrician, a Community Paediatric Fellow and a Youth Health Nurse/counsellor.

- Comprehensive paediatric assessments with a psychosocial component for at risk children and youth aged 0-18 years who reside in South Western Sydney, and who may not otherwise have access to health services or developmental screenings due to disadvantage, vulnerability or geographic location. These clinics are run in collaboration with The Benevolent Society (TBS).
