South Western Sydney Centre for Education and Workforce Development

As a healthcare provider South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) strives for a workplace culture of high performance. It is committed to the development of the health workforce and is proud of its comprehensive, innovative and strategic approach to the provision of education and training. South Western Sydney Centre for Education and Workforce Development (SWSCEWD) is integral to this and provides a suite of education and development opportunities that aim to provide individuals with the ability to progress in their career pathway and ensure that care delivered is person centred and evidence based.

National and State Governments recognise theĀ  importance of education in supporting the achievement of high levels of performance consistent with applicable legal and policy obligations and the CORE values of NSW Health (Collaboration, Openness, Respect, Empowerment). To support this SWSCEWD has developed a range of educational opportunities that are available to staff.

SWSCEWD is a major delivery site for Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) under the auspices of the NSW Health Registered Training Organisation (RTO). SWSCEWD is able to award full and part qualifications for both clinical and non-clinical courses.

SWSCEWD derives its strategic and operational direction from the South Western Sydney Local Health District Education and Training Strategic Plan 2015 - 2021.

Welcome to South Western Sydney Centre for Education and Workforce Development

To support career development SWSCEWD have developed six Professional Development Categories (PDC's) under which courses are organised. Each PCD is colour coded. The categories are identified in a wheel. A wheel was chosen as it represents learning and development as a continuous (lifelong) process which is in constant motion. The PDC's are overlapping indicating that they are all interconnected and complement each other.

Courses can be found by clicking on the relevant PDC within the wheel, or searching through the catalogue search box in HETI Online.

As part of our quality activities SWSCEWD we have been mapping all courses to a number of key strategic plans to ensure the workforce needs are met.  These key strategic plans are:

We look forward to working with you to provide Empowerment through Education to develop a skilled workforce for building our future.
